Director's Message

Perry JFS strives to administer and create programs that strengthen Perry County, one family at a time whether that family consists of a single individual or a multi-generational unit. We want to share the ways we are doing this with you!

Leading the Way Toward

a Brighter Future

Your Perry County Job and Family Services (PCJFS) agency is here to provide resources and services to Perry County that build a stronger, more prosperous community. We are here to help people understand how important learning and skill development are for success in the workplace, and how the training benefits and opportunities we offer can get people positioned for new jobs and careers.

Many Perry County people have experienced more change in the last three years than others in urban areas have experienced in their lifetime. But the world continues to change and with it comes even more new challenges to the career and financial security of Perry County residents. Many people don’t think that the “welfare office” has anything to offer them, but PCJFS and its OhioMeansJobs team are here to help you and your family not just to survive, but to thrive, in the 21st Century global economy.

With the recent federal change in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), many Perry County families are going to have less ability to afford the costs of putting food on their tables. We have tools here at PCJFS to help families deal with this change. We can provide you career services to find work or get into a better job, fuel vouchers and transit services to help you get to an interview or to a job, bonus programs for both you and your employer to help cover the costs associated with a new employee, child care to take care of children while you’re working, and more. If you or anyone you know is struggling with the decrease in food support, urge them to contact our team for guidance and support in gaining food security through better-paying work and careers.

It may be difficult to see this through the doom and gloom typical of national economic news, but the economic future of Perry County is incredibly bright. There are hundreds of well-paying and secure job openings currently unfilled nearby in Central and Southeast Ohio. The new Intel plant alone is creating over 3,000 manufacturing jobs and an amazing 7,000 construction jobs literally a 35-minute drive from Thornville. This is just one opportunity of many that have come to our region in recent years, and many of the established employers of Perry County people are hiring as well.

We at PCJFS can help you take advantage of these opportunities. Whether you’re looking for training or skill-up opportunities for your next career, our team can guide you there. We are continuing to lower the barriers that stand between workers and jobs or training.

If you or someone you know if looking to start a new career or skill-up in your current job, give us a call here at PCJFS, 740.721.0674 or email us at [email protected]. Our team looks forward to connecting you and your family to the great opportunities here in Perry County.
