Chapter Perch Project
The University of Redlands W.E.B.S. chapter holds an annual Professor of the Year event, a tradition of the chapter since 1959. This year the planning committee of 15 was headed by two co-chairs, Megan Kennedy and Allison Totzke. Faculty, students and even the school mascot (pictured right) came together to recognize this year's chosen professor for dedication to educating students and upholding the Ideals of scholarship, leadership and service. To win Professor of the Year is a renowned honor for faculty.
Alana Belcon was one of the five professors nominated this year. Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, she is now a part of the Advisory Committee for Spatial Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at Redlands. She rose above the rest, according to those who voted for her, because she is “one of a kind” and “caring and inspiring.” Megan Kennedy, an aspiring audiologist, said Prof. Belcon is compassionate and has “invited students to her house for Thanksgiving when they had nowhere else to go. She is not only a great professor, but also a great person.” Read more about this chapter's event in the spring issue of the Forum .
