Officer's Column
Last week our family went on a long planned and twice cancelled family trip to Colorado. While we were still a bit hesitant to travel, we truly enjoyed visiting with relatives, hiking, exploring, and enjoying nature’s beauty. As I reflected on our trip and considered what to write for this week’s Officer Column, this Psalm kept coming to me. God says it best in both Word and Creation.
Psalm 121
I lift my eyes to the mountains –
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip –
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD watches over you –
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon at night.
The LORD will keep you from all harm –
he will watch over your life;
the LORD will watch over your coming and going,
both now and forevermore.
Prayer: Lord help us to rest in the beauty of your creation and the comfort of your word.

This service is a reminder that we are part of the continuing communion of saints…a time to claim our kinship with those who have gone before us…and a time for the church to be faithful in life and service for all who have been witnesses to God’s love in this world. Come worship with us! Walk Through Bethlehem
The Walk Through Bethlehem Leadership team is continuing to plan for a live event, if the way be clear, utilizing recommended safety precautions on December 3, 4 and 5. If you are interested in a cast or guide role, please sign up using the link below. We encourage you not to wait to sign up as this will help us know if we have enough support to proceed with this event or not.

Additional sign up opportunities will be coming out for hospitality, costumes, set/soft props, etc. after October 28.

Pictures from our Pet Parade and Blessing
We had a great time Wednesday evening -- first, enjoying pizza with our church family and then celebrating a different type of family -- our pets! After a pet parade led by the kids of WFPC, Pastor John did a blessing for each pet. All were rewarded with treats made by our Club 4/5 kids.
Join the Team!
Our ushers play an important role each Sunday as they welcome members and visitors to worship, hand out bulletins, and deal with any situations that might arise. We currently need some more members to volunteer as ushers. You can choose the service and the dates you're available to help out by going to our SignUpGenius link today:

In Appreciation of Pastor John
October is Pastor Appreciation Month! John has undertaken new responsibilities and excelled following Rebekah's retirement. He has more than earned our thanks, and we are blessed to have him at WFPC. Show your appreciation to Pastor John with a card in the box provided in the Narthex. For those wanting to offer a financial gift online, select the "Pastor Appreciation" option from the drop-down categories in the online giving system. Thank you, John!
Holy Hay Day
Sunday, October 24, 12:00 - 2:00 pm on the WFPC Lawn
Our amazing BBQ platters will be available for purchase (and hot dogs for those that aren’t BBQ fans), there will be music, games, hayrides, a costume parade, raffles and more! This event is one of our top youth fundraising events! All funds raised go directly toward costs for youth mission trips and faith formation retreats. Come join us in fellowship and fun with our church family, and thank you, in advance, for supporting our youth! Not ready to be in person yet, or don’t have time to stay that day? No worries! New this year is our CURBSIDE PICKUP option! Drive in to one of the spots marked “curbside pickup” and someone will get your order and bring you your food! You can order, receive, and pay for your food without even getting out of the car! At our last Holy Hay Day event, we sold out of BBQ plates in the first hour, so come early! Don’t miss out!

50/50 Raffle!!
Presales for raffle tickets have ended, but you can still buy tickets at Holy Hay Day!  In 2019, our winner won $1,250!! The drawing will take place at Holy Hay Day on the 24th!! You do not have to be present to win!
Mission and Outreach
Community Garden
A heartfelt thank you to all who participated in the Sweet Potato Harvest this Saturday! Over 50 people of all ages worked together to harvest over 1,200 pounds of summer crops, remove tomato vines, prepare rows, and plant winter crops. That’s a record number of volunteers, and we couldn’t have done it without you!!! The fruits of your labor will help feed hundreds of families in Wake Forest this Thanksgiving and Christmas! We’ll take a well-deserved break this Saturday. There will be no garden workday tomorrow. Please join us in the garden on 10/30 when we start harvesting the Swiss Chard, along with green beans and peppers.

Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry
TAM will have a food drive at both Wake Forest Chick-fil-A locations Friday, October 29. Bring five cans of food and receive a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A sandwich! Due to COVID, this food drive has been cancelled twice. It is one of our largest food drives of the year. For more information, please visit our website, or contact Armin Harrell at Thanks again for your continued support.
Veterans Assistance Food Drive
The Veterans Assistance team is planning a food drive for the Durham VA Food Pantry on Saturday, November 13, at Lowes Food (12524 Capital Blvd.) from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. We hope to get donations to help the men and women that we honor on Memorial Day and Veterans Day who are experiencing food insecurity. Volunteers are needed to work shifts at the entrance to invite customers who come for regular grocery shopping to consider purchasing items on a list (that is provided) and then bring them back after checkout. We also need volunteers to work in the Red Mod at the church to help store the purchased donations. If you need more information, please contact Bonnie and Benny Hoots at 919 529-4373.
Thank everyone who is still dropping off donations for Undie Sunday. We have enough items to make a second donation drop to the VA in November.

WFPC Backpack Buddies
Mark your calendars: On Saturday, November 6, at 9:45 a.m. in the Backpack Buddy Room of the Red Mod we are having our fall packing event to pack all of our November and December bags! Then on Saturday, November 20th, we are having a small packing event to pack our holiday blessing bags and to include the wonderful crafts that our children minister is creating for our recipients. Please contact Heather Wheeler at for more information.

Congratulations to the WFPC Backpack Buddy mission for receiving a $3500 grant from the Syngenta Corporation as a program helping to address food insecurity. The funds will be used to further our mission of alleviating childhood hunger.

Children's Ministries
"Jesus loves me this I know,"  "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound," "Jesus loves the little children," "Silent night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright" ...

So much of our faith vocabulary comes through SONGS. Singing is some of the first exposure we get to words that associate our feelings toward God and Jesus, and is so important all the way through life as we move through our faith journey stages!

We have had SUCH a wonderful children's choir presence in our church history, and we are continuing that tradition with some NEW opportunities for children of the church to learn through song and music, and we want all our children to be involved! We have our wonderful volunteer choir leadership team AND our new Assistant Director of Music, Karen Reardon, ready to go with our kids!

Alleluia Choir (kindergarten-2nd grade)
Joyful Noise Choir (3rd- 5th grade)

The two singing choirs will rehearse November and December specifically preparing our 4:00 Family Christmas Eve service music and pageant.  THERE ARE SINGING (solo, duet, trio, etc) AND SPEAKING PARTS!!

Rehearsals will be 6-6:45 on Wednesdays:
Nov. 3
Nov. 10
Nov. 17
Dec. 1
Dec. 8
Dec. 15
Dec. 22

The hand bell/chime choir will begin work in the new year!
