Divided Legislature
Small Agency, Big Impact
January, The Municipality, pg. 8

The  Board of Commissioners of Public Lands  (BCPL) is important to Wisconsin's municipalities, providing loans to Wisconsin's local governments for everything from a fire truck to economic development projects.

Jerry has a fascinating conversation with Tom German, BCPL Deputy Secretary & General Counsel, about all of the aspects and benefits of the BCPL in this month's League Local Perspective. Watch it  here .

Close the Dark Store Loopholes!

The League's Dark Store Loopholes Whiteboard video explains the impact of the Loopholes on property taxes in Wisconsin. If the Legislature does not close the loopholes and you play out the scenario, over time the only taxpayers who will be left to pay are residential and small businesses.

Municipal officials and staff are invited to participate in the League's first lobby day of the session on Wednesday, February 20. We meet at 9:30 at the Best Western Premier Park Hotel on the Capitol Square. The agenda for the day is as follows:

9:30 -- 10:30 -- League staff provides briefing on issues that will be lobbied on
10:30-12:15 -- Meet with state legislators
12:30-1:30 -- Lunch and Speaker
1:30 -- Adjourn

More information about the lobby day and how to sign up for the League's Lobby Team is posted on the League's web site, here.  Why join the Lobby Team? Watch this video to learn from Team Members what it is like to add your voice to the League's Team of advocates.
