SUMMER JOBS FOR OUR YOUTH

(Last year's successful summer cohort.)

For the second year, Carver Center has been awarded a contract from the Westchester County Workforce Board to provide Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) for various Carver partners/worksites in our community.

The contract provides funding for  a

7-week paid internship for Westchester youth ages 14-20.

Youth will attend weekly life skills workshops on financial literacy, interviewing skills, and much more. 

It's a valuable life and work experience for our youth!

LET'S GET TECHIE TOGETHER

Francisco Luz from Rye Country Day School volunteered his time and passion for giving back again to give free technology classes on Saturdays. These classes teach beginners how to use a desktop computer, navigate the G-Suite, and search job sites. The classes are held in our Tech Lab in both English and Spanish.

These workshops are a game-changer for our community residents.

SEE YOU IN SEPTEMBER

Thank you to our dedicated volunteers from Congregation KTI for providing conversational English-speaking classes to our community. The classes were well-attended, and our students were well on their way to becoming fluent in English.

We celebrated our teachers, and students at an end-of-year luncheon.

OUR YOUNG VOLUNTEERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE

A group of ambitious and hardworking 8th graders from Rye Country Day School were at Carver recently to help shelve and organize food in the Carver Market.

Their help was greatly appreciated as we prepared for our Friday Market distribution.

PROVIDING RESOURCES THAT OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS

Thanks to the Port Chester Hispanic Advisory Board for organizing this valuable street fair that showcased essential resources and services available to the Hispanic community.

The event brought together a wide variety of organizations from the Village of Port Chester and the county.

Daisy Garcia, Carver Center's Case Manager was on hand, to answer questions about our programs. Her sister, Allison, was a great helper for the day.

In collaboration with our community partner, Family Services of Westchester (FSW), we hosted an important workshop for parents and students, “Promoting a Safe and Healthy Community - - Alcohol Prevention.”

We are working together to reduce underage drinking in our community.

HELPING OUR SENIORS THRIVE

Carver Center is grateful to the Field Hall Foundation for their $25,000 grant

which will support our efforts to provide Case Management Services

to low-income seniors in our community.

Field Hall Foundation’s mission is to improve the lives of older adults and their caregivers in Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties.
