Scouts Step Up at National Youth Leadership Training

This past weekend, nearly 60 Scouts and Scout Leaders ventured up to Hubert Eaton Scout Reservation to kick off their first weekend of National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT).

This incredible program challenges Scouts to take their leadership and teamwork skills to the next level, and boy, did they rise to the occasion. It was inspiring to see them face new challenges, build stronger teams, and grow as leaders.

We can't wait to see what next weekend brings for these future leaders of Scouting.

Nominations Now Open!

The Greater LA Scouting Eagle Scout Association Chapter is now accepting nominations for the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA)!

This prestigious honor is presented by the local council’s NESA committee to Eagle Scouts who have shown exceptional achievement and leadership at the local, state, or regional level — making a positive impact in their communities.

Deadline: All nominations must be submitted by 5:00 PM on October 31, 2025.

Nominate a Scouting Alumnus Who Inspires!

The Greater Los Angeles Scouting is now accepting nominations for the Council Alumnus of the Year Award, the highest honor given by the Scouting Alumni Association at the local level.

This award recognizes former Scouts or Scouters who have used the values and skills gained through Scouting to make a lasting impact in their career, community, and continued promotion of Scouting. It’s not just about volunteer service; it honors those who inspire others and help keep the spirit of Scouting alive across generations.

Nominees should demonstrate excellence in at least one of the following:

Distinguished achievement in their profession or field
Meaningful community service, including support of Scouting or other organizations
Ongoing support and promotion of Scouting alumni efforts

On-Demand Public Safety Courses for Youth Groups

Free, on-demand classes taught by law enforcement officers are available for youth organizations and Scouting groups. Topics include crime prevention, drug awareness, DUI education, careers in law enforcement, drone technology, and other public safety subjects. Each session features a live public-safety drone demonstration and can be conducted at your location.

The 13th Annual Law Merit Badge Day

Step into the world of justice with The Legal Eagles, Law Merit Badge Day! This unique event gives Scouts the opportunity to complete the requirements for the Law Merit Badge while exploring criminal law, civil law, and legal history. Participants will also take part in a mock trial, gaining practical, hands-on courtroom experience.

The event is made possible by the Legal Eagles, a team of dedicated legal professionals who volunteer their time to mentor Scouts. Their guidance helps youth better understand the legal system, its role in everyday life, and its potential as a career path.

This award honors Eagle Scouts who completed their Eagle Scout service project in 2025 as registered members of Greater LA Scouting. If your project made a meaningful impact in your community, this is your chance to be recognized!
