Awareness
Did you know that November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month?

In Memory of Andrea Chwat & William H. Wanser, III

Katz Chwat, P.C. is taking action this month to spread awareness of Pancreatic Cancer. Bringing awareness comes in many forms, we've chosen to wear purple for the cause, spread the word on social media and make a contribution to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.

In addition to November being a month of recognition..

This year, World Pancreatic Cancer Day is on Thursday, November 21st.

It’s a day where people and organizations from around the world unite to bring global attention to this devastating disease. We encourage you to join us in this initiative by wearing purple and sharing a photo on your social media platforms with the hashtag #WPCD and #worldpancreaticcancerday.

Facts

  • Pancreatic cancer is the 3rd leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States surpassing breast cancer. It is expected to become the 2nd by 2020, surpassing colon cancer

  • Pancreatic cancer is a leading cause of cancer death largely because there are no detection tools to diagnose the disease in its early stages when surgical removal of the tumor is still possible.

  • Pancreatic cancer is one of the few cancers for which survival has not improved substantially for more than 40 years.

How else can you help?

There is no known cure, however, there are new developments everyday to prolong and sustain the quality of life of the patient.

Here are just a few (of many) organizations that dedicate their time to research new treatment options and assist patients and families that are facing the reality of Pancreatic Cancer.
