Learn from Peers and Connect at Peer Power

Questions about navigating life with a disability? Swing by Peer Power and chat with someone who has lived disability experience!

You’re invited to join us for our next Peer Power session on July 28th at Lakewood Library. Our Consulting Advocates will be available for conversations about any questions you may be working through, like:

  • Figuring out transportation
  • Applying for benefits
  • Advocating for yourself at work or school
  • And more!

Consulting Advocates can offer guidance—and share their own experiences, too, because they are people with disabilities and have encountered similar situations.

We’d love to see you there! No registration is required.

When: July 28th, 12:30pm-2:00pm

Where: Lakewood Library – 10200 W 20th Ave, Lakewood, CO 80215

Your Old Car Can Support Our Work

Did you know that you can turn your old car into a donation for The Arc – Jefferson, Clear Creek & Gilpin Counties?

Our partner, Vehicles for Charity, can sell your car at auction and turn it into a charitable cash donation. Your contribution will support The Arc and our mission to protect the rights of people with IDD, promote inclusion, and empower the people we serve to live the lives they choose.

To get started, visit Vehicles for Charity online or call 1-866-628-2277 and arrange your free pickup. To ensure your donation benefits our chapter, simply designate The Arc - Jefferson, Clear Creek & Gilpin Counties as the recipient, and the proceeds will come directly to us.

Note that Vehicles for Charity can accept cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, dirt bikes, and more.

Webinars: Medicaid Work Requirements and Medical Frailty

Stay up-to-date on the details of Medicaid work requirements through two upcoming webinars from the Department of Health Care Policy & Financing (HCPF). Whether you are a Medicaid member, family member, or professional, this month’s webinars will offer important information to help you prepare for the upcoming changes. See the details from HCPF below:

Medicaid Work Requirements Webinar

In this webinar, HCPF will explain what work requirements are; share what is known today; describe what this may mean for members, counties, providers, and communities, including who may not have to comply; share what comes next; and describe how our partners can stay involved.

Medical Frailty Definition and Exemption Webinar

In this webinar, HCPF will explain what we know now about who may not have to report work, school or volunteer activities based on medical frailty. HCPF will also share federal guidance and what we’ve heard from health care providers and health care advocates about medical frailty, and what this means for Health First Colorado members.
