Converting a Modbus 4-Wire Device to a 2-Wire Device for BACnet/IP Integration
Learn how we provided support for a client to help them interface a 4-wire Modbus RTU device with BACnet/IP.
 
First, the 4-wire device had to be integrated to a 2-wire system. Then, this 2-wire system was connected to the optically-isolated Modbus EIA-485 serial port on our BASgatewayLX.

BACnet BBMD and FDR Setup Recommendations
BACnet utilizes broadcast messages for certain functions, such as trying to discover BACnet devices on a network. However, these BACnet networks often incorporate IP routers to interconnect the IP infrastructure over the internet, and these routers will typically block any broadcast messages. BACnet solves the IP router communication issue by utilizing a BACnet/IP Broadcast Management Device (BBMD).
