Dear Superintendents,

I'm writing to share two brief items related to COVID-19.

County of San Diego Hosting Call Friday on Antigen Testing
If you’d like to learn more about antigen testing, the county is holding a call Friday at 2 p.m. to discuss what short-term support the county can provide and offer guidance on some of the challenges you might encounter in pursuing an antigen testing program. The Zoom link is https://zoom.us/j/97424150839 and the meeting ID is 974 2415 0839.

This call is a follow up to the information provided during Tuesday’s K-12 telebriefing. Medical experts and representatives from Coronado Unified School District who implemented the antigen test pilot program will lead the discussion. You’re encouraged to review the following materials prior to the call.

Personnel Support for County Vaccination Effort
The County of San Diego is in need of qualified medical personnel to assist them in meeting their vaccination goals for the next five months. You can support this effort by:
  • Entering into an agreement with the County of San Diego to provide medical and/or non-medical personnel from your district to work at vaccination centers
  • Offering a district site for use as a community vaccination center
  • Encouraging district and school staff to volunteer on their own time to assist at vaccination centers
  • Encouraging parents and other members of your school community to volunteer to assist at vaccination centers

Please take this short survey to assist us in gauging interest from your district in supporting the vaccination efforts.

Professionals authorized to administer the COVID-19 vaccine include: physicians, pharmacists, allopathic and osteopathic physicians, naturopathic doctors, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, nurse anesthetists, nurse midwives, public health nurses, vocational nurses, physician assistants, medical assistants, psychiatric technicians, and respiratory care practitioners.

More information will be available in the coming days on this effort. We are drafting template letters to assist you in reaching out to school employees and parents/community members, and will provide those as soon as possible. I encourage you to help support the county in any way you can.

Thank you for all you are doing during these unprecedented times. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or need support.
