LEARN SOMETHING NEW IN 2024

The new year is as good a time as any to learn something new and the library can help you achieve your goals. Whether you want to learn to sew, start a new career, fix broken household items, or earn your high school diploma, we have something for everyone.

Our Makerspace is all about learning and making! Try our Open Sewing or Open 3D Printing to get started on learning new skills. We have Coding and Robotics for kids interested in the basics of programming. Teen Makers this Saturday will focus on Vision Board Making. At the January 20 Fixit Clinic, you can work with volunteers to learn how to fix your own items.

You can also expand your knowledge with free access to online learning tools such as Coursera and LinkedIn Learning. Pronunciator is a fun and free way to learn any of 163 languages.

Did you know that you can get your high school diploma free through the Redwood City Library? Career Online High School offers adults the opportunity to complete their high school education and gain career training through a self-paced, supportive and accredited online education program. Take the Are You Ready Survey to see if the school is right for you.

Last but not least, it wouldn't be a library inspiration list without reading recommendations! Visit our New Year, New You list for more new year resolution ideas.

BEFORE OUR VERY EYES EXHIBIT

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Every year since 2010, the month is dedicated to raise awareness about human trafficking and to educate the public about how to identify and prevent this crime. We have partnered with the San Mateo County Human Trafficking Program on "Before Our Very Eyes", an informational exhibit to raise awareness of human trafficking within the community. The exhibit will be on view at the Downtown Library through January 31. Drop by to learn more about human trafficking in California and how you can help.
