An Anaheim Encore: Second City Works and BioMarin Hemophilia are back–and this time we need your help. Second City has produced some of the most unforgettable satire and influential comedians of the last 60 years. On October 3, Second City Works and BioMarin Hemophilia are joining forces to start the weekend off with an afternoon of improv, hilarity, and community. It’ll be a chance to come together, listen, learn a little differently—and maybe even be a part of the show!

Please join us for an engaging breakfast symposium led by, and made for, members of the hemophilia A community. Learn from our panelists, Robert Sidonio, MD, Jennifer Maahs, NP, and community members Miranda and Gabe, as they share their personal experiences with treating and living with hemophilia A. This interactive presentation will include information about a subcutaneous treatment option for hemophilia A, including its half-life, dosing options, and a breakdown of important clinical trial data. Our panelists will also provide useful resources for the hemophilia A community and answer your questions in a live Q&A. We hope to see you there!

This inspiring morning session with Patrick Torrey from GutMonkey will look at how a bleeding disorder diagnosis impacts our lives, and can often overshadow other parts of well-being. In this very personal look at the challenges of taking care of our whole selves, the GutMonkey team will take you along on their journey to embody five skills that challenge us to not simply manage our bleeding, but to cultivate lasting happiness and health, alongside, not in spite of, having a bleeding disorder.

You know that hemophilia B is different from hemophilia A in many ways, but when it comes to factor IX and bleed protection, there’s more to explore. Unlike factor VIII, which stays in the bloodstream, factor IX also travels outside the bloodstream and into other areas of the body. This means that trough levels, which only measure factor in the bloodstream, may not tell the full story of how well your factor IX replacement therapy is working. Join Dr Sidonio to learn more about factor IX and how we can think about protection in hemophilia B beyond trough levels alone.

Attendees will then explore the benefits of an extended half-life therapy that can offer patients 0 spontaneous bleeds, up to 14-day dosing and 20% steady-state FIX trough levels for long lasting bleed protection.

Join us for a nurse and patient-led symposium on a subcutaneous prophylaxis option for patients with hemophilia A. This dynamic panel, which includes Jennifer Maahs, NP, Maya Bloomberg, NP, and a patient with hemophilia A, Zac, will share their insights into the role of nurses in hemophilia A management and their perspectives on nursing and patient experiences. The panelists will discuss practical considerations for hemophilia A management, including information on dosing and administration, key clinical trial data, and patient support. Questions will be answered by the panelists during the program.
