THE NISOD PAPERS

In this edition of The NISOD Papers, "Learning From Marginalized Community College Students Taking Honors Courses for the First Time," Dr. Trina Sotirakopulos, Professor of English and Creative Writing, College of DuPage, summarizes a recent dissertation study with data from students placed in high school low and middle track classes—those who self-identified as socially-marginalized—who enrolled in community college and chose to take honors courses for the first time. This paper shares relevant findings and recommendations for community college practitioners.

The NISOD Papers is NISOD’s version of a white paper series for community and technical college educators, covering an array of diverse topics: professional development, emerging technologies, crisis communication, education reform, and more. NISOD members can access The NISOD Papers archive here.
