Employers tell us they need all employees with effective soft skills to work on teams, communicate effectively with colleagues, and more. Leadership, on the other hand, is a quality I believe is born out of many experiences. And while some people may be a “natural” or have the instincts to lead, for most this is a learned skill.
Hearing from people who have had unique career journeys and leadership roles is embodied in our Chamber Leadership events. Our next such meeting will feature former Judge Joshua Martin. His decades-long career has made many stops along the way and is surely a story not to be missed. We’ll hear from the Judge a week from tomorrow — Tuesday, June 29 at 7:30 am — and in-person at the University and Whist Club! I am especially looking forward to seeing our members in person again. Join us next week!
"Businesses cannot separate themselves from society; we all need to recognize that our individual success is tied to our collective success. Business leaders have a clear role to play in building that better future." - Jim Collins, CEO, Corteva Agriscience™
"Don't miss your moment. To me, that means put my ego aside and walk in my purpose, boldly and without excuses. If I can do that, I believe that we will be what we have always been, and more." - Dr. Tony Allen, President, Delaware State University
"You would be surprised at how friendly the leaders in Delaware are. Pick up the phone and call. You will keep those relationships for a long time." - Jennifer Cohan, CEO, Leadership Delaware
The week's economic and business news gets started tomorrow with existing home sales data from May. On Wednesday, we follow up with new home sales for May too.
