Greetings,
Our homecoming celebration
—Dakota Days
—is just around the corner, and we will be spending the first week of October celebrating USD. We encourage our alumni and community to join us in celebration before the big game at our tailgate tent on October 6; we will be sharing food and prizes near the USD tennis courts between 10am and 2pm.
We are also eager to unveil our newsletter's updated look next month. While the next newsletter you receive from us will have a new style, it will still relay the School of Education voice you are accustomed to reading.
Thank you for keeping up with our news each month. We are excited to continue sharing the exceptional stories and research you expect from the School of Education, and we could not be more optimistic about the opportunities that lie ahead.

Lisa Newland
Lisa Newland, Ph.D. and colleagues compared child well-being across 14 different countries. They found that while economic context of the country was relevant to wellbeing, children’s home context, family relationships, peers, neighborhood, teachers and schools were more important. Across cultures, those of us closest to children have a big impact on their life satisfaction and self-image. This research was published in
Child Development.
