Reminder: IROC IRB Continuing Review
The next IROC IRB Continuing Review will not be due until April 2024. Last year’s initial renewal approval has an expiration date of April 2022. Since then, IROC completed a protocol modification for the new registry which switched our protocol to a different category for the new common rule. On that modification approval letter, it states the current expiration date is April 2024. Therefore, IROC will not have a continuing renewal application due to the CCHMC IRB until April 2024.

Annual IROC Site Team Roster Review & Key Contact Identification
Each IROC site team roster has been added here on ICP. Please have a designated team member or the planned key contact for your site review your site’s team roster for accuracy and ensure that your IROC Key Contact(s) are identified. Full details on the yearly site rosters and Key Contact review can be found on the ICP newsfeed.
Do you have changes to your site team, need to add or remove a team member, request registry access, or identify a Key Contact?
An “Add/Remove Site Team Member” Button has been added to ICP Quick Links here to expedite these requests.
What is a Key Contact’s Role?
A Key Contact is the primary liaison for a site and ensures their team members receive appropriate IROC updates and requests. They are responsible for notifying IROC of changes to your site’s team roster.

There are two sessions left in the series, which will cover PDSAs, reliability, sustainability and spread. We welcome new team members and members interested in a QI refresher to audit the training. Community Engagement Workgroup (CEW) Updates
In January, a parent gave a mini-ignite talk about her son and their family's transplant journey. She provided great tips like reminding our kids why taking their meds is so critical and teaching our older kids that they can reach out directly to their doctors. Our guest speakers from the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients conducted a focus group that would help other transplant families.
In February, a parent was our mini-ignite speaker to share her daughter's tough journey and her message of faith and resiliency. She also shared how the knowledge and support of other CEW parents made a huge difference in her daughter's care. Guest speaker, Donna Ritz, LCSW, was back by popular demand to remind us what superheroes look like and they happen to look a lot like pediatric transplant patients and their caregivers. Her presentation, "Kids: Mental Health, Masks, and Magical Measures" was as entertaining as it was meaningful.
The CEW's Transition Workgroup, a dedicated group of caregivers and clinicians, are actively working on developing a Transition Toolkit for patients and families.
As a reminder, the CEW has Blood Pressure and Rejection Materials available for families on the CEW member section of IROCNow.org. These materials are also available for sites on ICP.
