We're counting down to the First Day of School!

Summer is almost over and we're so excited to welcome back all of our staff and our scholars!

Our school leaders, teachers and team members have been working diligently all summer long to prepare for the new school year. This week, we welcomed new staff members to the Friendship Family during our annual Friendship Way University. Attendees learned the 25-year history of FPCS, heard alumni stories, met leadership and inevitably enjoyed fellowship with one another. For the next two weeks, we will kick off Standards University where all team members will have an opportunity to engage in professional development to ensure we are providing every scholar with a world-class academic experience. Follow us on social media to see more content from Friendship Way and Standards University!

We cannot wait to welcome back all of our staff over the next few weeks as we prepare to see each of our scholars on the first day of school Monday, August 22, 2022.

Provided in this edition are a few helpful reminders to ensure we start the school year safe and strong.

COVID-19 Masking Policy

In keeping with the current guidance from the CDC and DC Health, masking is optional for students and staff when at all of our campuses, indoors and outdoors, and at the community office. Friendship is committed to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all members of the community, regardless of whether or not they choose to wear a mask. We encourage those who are most comfortable continuing to mask to exercise their personal choice to do so. In addition, Friendship will continue to provide masks to those who want them.

Throughout the pandemic, Friendship has benefited from your commitment as we’ve all worked together to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment, despite the impact of COVID-19.

Friendship will monitor COVID-19 infection rates published by the CDC and DC Health and reserve the right to reinstate indoor mask mandates and surveillance testing if conditions warrant it.

Based on our continued receipt of supplies, we expect to continue our rapid antigen testing program. Friendship continues to strongly encourage all eligible members of our community to get their COVID-19 vaccine and boosters.

We welcome your feedback on this approach and encourage you to share your perspective by emailing wecare@friendshipschools.org.
