Celebrating Black Lives Matter Week!

This week marks the start of Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action! Many Friendship history teachers have developed lessons focused on the 13 guiding principles of BLM. Ms. Mintz’s 8th-grade History of US II scholars at Friendship Woodridge are diving into Resistance 101: A Lesson on Social Justice Activists and Strategies. This role-play activity mixer introduces scholars to lesser-known historical figures, including many young people who campaigned for social justice and civic reform using a variety of strategies. Through this lesson and supporting activities, scholars will understand the significance of young people as leaders and activists throughout history and inspire them to confront injustice and advocate for equity.

Great work, Ms. Mintz, fellow Friendship history teachers and scholars! What lessons are you teaching for BLM week and/or Black History Month? Share your classroom photos with us by tagging us on Instagram and or using the hashtag #BH365atFPCS!
