Bones, Blue Coats and Blow Pierce Scholars!

The PreK-4 scholars of Blow Pierce are exploring the body and the mind! Last week, the budding anatomists of DC’s Teacher of the Year Dominique Foster’s class explored the skeletal system of their new found friend, fondly known as “Skelly”! Scholars explored Skelly’s bones and reviewed X-rays to then identify what bones need to heal using color-coded band aids. After learning what keeps their bones strong and bodies healthy, scholars engaged in Yoga to put their lesson to the physical test!

Fun Fact:

Did you know that more than half of the bones in your body are in your hands and feet? There are 54 bones in your hand and 26 bones in the human foot.

Celebrate Black History in the Making

“When the world is telling you what BLACK people are and what they aren’t, I hope that I’m showing all students that it is possible to LEAD…”

– Inspiring words from Friendship’s very own CEO Patricia A. Brantley as she expresses the significance of being a black school leader.

Quality Site Reviews

As part of Friendship’s 25 Year review, the DC Public Charter School Board will conduct Quality Site Reviews (QSR) at all of our campuses beginning Friday, March 7 through Friday, May 20, 2022. During these observations, scholars and staff should expect visitors in some of their classes throughout the specified observation window (see graphic below). As we do every day, let’s be at our best and show visitors our excellence, our passion for learning, and the strength and love of our Friendship Family.
