This month, our Chamber Business Spotlight features Moonlight Computing, LLC!

Moonlight Computing recently designed and launched our brand-new Lebanon Chamber of Commerce website — and we couldn’t be more excited about the results. In addition to the Chamber site, they also created the updated webpages for the Fall Festival and the Lebanon Victorian Holiday.

We were proud to officially welcome Moonlight Computing as new Chamber members during our most recent meeting, with a ribbon-cutting celebration!

Moonlight Computing is a family-owned business that offers the following services: custom website design and hosting, SEO services, and custom technology solutions for businesses with unique needs.  They have an in-house illustrator, animator, and videographer who can handle any branding, graphic design, or video creation a customer may need.

Moonlight Computing began developing websites in 1999 and has been in the computer services industry since 1985. The staff at Moonlight Computing consists of the following people:

- Beth Sheldon handles the day-to-day operations of Moonlight Computing LLC.

- Kelsey Sheldon works on the design and development of websites and creates any visual elements Moonlight Computing's clients may need for their website and company branding. She creates motion graphics and animation for advertising and edits video for Moonlight Computing's Motion Design service.

- Jim Sheldon has been employed as a software developer in the computer industry since 1985 and assists Beth and Kelsey evenings and weekends.

- Ryan Sheldon provides software development and technology solutions for Moonlight Computing on an as-needed basis.

When asked who their ideal customers are, Beth Sheldon replied, “Our ideal clients are people who are looking for guidance and expertise in building their website. Our customers are widely diverse geographically. We often have clients that have been referred to us by existing clients, and they already know that we won’t try to sell them solutions they don’t need or want.’’

I asked Beth what she loves most about her work, and she shared, "My favorite part of the business is meeting people and learning about their organization’s needs, then figuring out how to best assist them.”

The Lebanon Matthew 25.40 Ministries (LMM) was established by the Lebanon Area Ministerial Council of Churches for the purpose of serving those in need in the communities of Lebanon and Summerfield, IL. LMM applied for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status more than a decade ago and moved into the current building at 108 E Dee Street. Prior to that, the community food pantry and client meetings both used the St Paul United Church of Christ conference room.

The name of the non-profit organization comes from Matthew Chapter 25, verse 40 from the Bible, which reads, “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” In responding to Christ's teachings, LMM makes resources available through the food pantry as well as provides financial assistance, employment assistance, referrals to handle day-to-day or emergency situations while educating and strengthening the individual's capacity for self-reliance through the Community Care Coalition.

The LMM is financially supported by several local churches, businesses, non-profit organizations, and private individuals and is the umbrella organization for the Lebanon Food Pantry and Community Care Coalition. The Food Pantry provides emergency food assistance for families residing in Lebanon and Summerfield, Illinois. Eligible individuals and families may use the food pantry once every 30 days.

The food pantry relies on private donations and local food drives throughout the year conducted by the Boy Scouts, Lebanon Schools, and McKendree University. The pantry welcomes donations of limited perishable food items, non-perishable food items, toiletries, paper products, cleaning products, baby food and baby formula. The pantry has limited refrigerator and freezer space, so it is highly recommended to contact the food pantry before donating any perishable food.

The Community Care Coalition provides financial assistance on a case-by-case basis for people living within the boundaries of the Lebanon Community Unit School District #9, Lebanon, IL.  Client Advocates are also equipped to provide counseling to find employment, establish a budget, write a resume, secure housing, etc.

Lebanon Matthew 25.40 Ministries just held their 3rd annual Euchre tournament fundraiser on November 8 at the Summerfield Lions Club. In addition to the Euchre card game, there was a silent auction, raffles, and food sales to raise money for LMM. The fundraiser was a success and raised $5,500 for people in need in the Lebanon and Summerfield communities. For more information on Food Pantry hours, food drop-off information, eligibility for assistance, etc., you can use the contact information below.

Looking for a Volunteer Opportunity in Lebanon?

The Lebanon Visitors' Center is open to the public and provides a warm welcome and clean public restrooms for visitors to Lebanon and the brick street businesses.

Do you have spare time once a week to volunteer? It is a peaceful and quiet place to read, do homework, and greet occasional visitors to Lebanon. We need volunteers who can fill 2-hour shifts once a week to welcome visitors, answer the phone, and direct them to our businesses and attractions in Lebanon. Currently, the Visitors Center is open only on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, as well as for special events.

For more information about volunteering at the Visitors' Center, call Marie Fero at 618-830-3781 or Email mfero60@gmail.com.
