Hi edible gardeners and edible garden supporters!
Yes, indeed the rainy season of Summer is still here. It is still great weather for planting tropical fruit trees along with a wide variety of heat tolerant veggies, herbs and soil building cover crops. However, the cool season is practically just around the corner, which means that soon gardening outdoors won't be so sultry, and you'll be able to start planting cool weather edible plants too! I recommend late September or October as the optimum time for starting to plant cool weather crops. Before I forget, tomorrow, Saturday August 27th I will be giving a lecture on Organic Edible Gardening for South Florida. It will be from 1-3 p.m. at Flamingo Gardens in Davie, FL. Cost for the lecture is free with a paid admission to Flamingo Gardens.

Also, our special pricing for planting bananas in South Florida Edible Landscapes is still available, but ending soon. For a limited time, customers can choose from 4 varieties of banana plants and have it planted correctly for only $50! Planting includes weed removal, adding lots of compost, organic fertilization, and mulching... Its truly a great deal, but won't be this low for much longer! One can expect to harvest bananas about a year after planting and then repeatedly for many years to come :)....
Anyway, I hope that all of you are having great summers. Ready-to-Grow Gardens is grateful for your support in making what we do possible.
