17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
As I sat-DUMBFOUNDED AND CONFUSED-glued to my TV set last night as I watched in horror the unfolding story of SEVERAL unknown flying objects discovered flying in our countries skies.
This is uncharted waters for us as this has NEVER occurred over the mainland of America.
This past week I also discovered a movie premiering across the nation that recounts the miraculous revival that erupted in the early 70's-the very year of my own salvation:
The late 60's and early 70's were also a very tumultuous time! War and revolution were tearing the country apart as the “Church” was seemingly stagnating and shriveling.
Young people were LOST and hopeless as the culture turned increasing dark when SUDDENLY JESUS CHRIST exploded on the cover of TIME magazine and swept the country in spiritual REVIVAL.
I am a product of that REVIVAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOW-OVER 50 YEARS LATER-we are in desperate need of ANOTHER revival!!!!!!
Just as Larry Norman sang them MANY years ago-I WISH WE'D ALL BEEN READY!
As I watched the disturbing “news” unfolding late last night I was shocked to learn that the “leaders” of this country were all encapsulated in our nation's White House enjoying a concert of country music??????
Our President AND most of the governors of all political persuasion were there.
As I prepared for bed, I HEARD the Gentle Voice of God speak to me:

This particular Scripture has always held great meaning to me-not so much on the “obey and submit” but on the RESPONSIBILITY of “THEM THAT HAVE RULE OVER YOU!!!!!!!!!!”
“FOR THEY WATCH FOR YOUR SOUL-
AS THEY THAT MUST GIVE ACCOUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
The Apostle James WELL understood this crushing responsibility:

1 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
Jesus said:

48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
WE, AS A PEOPLE AND A NATION DESPERATELY NEED “leaders” that
WATCH FOR OUR SOULS AS THEY THAT MUST GIVE ACCOUNT!!!!!!!!!!”
There IS coming THAT day when WE shall all “give account of himself to God!!!!”

12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
As a “leader” I live daily/hourly WELL aware of this one fact!!
I have but ONE job-that JOB being to “WATCH FOR YOUR SOULS!!!!!!!!!”
Today, I speak to other “leaders” and humbly beg that WE all take more seriously the duties that lie ahead of us...............
