| Some people love leftovers, others not so much. But what about Halloween? Now that is a tough one! Do you buy candy YOU WANT to have left over, or do you buy candy you don’t like so there’s no temptation? Both have their merits!
Many of us have had to ponder what to do with mundane leftover roasted chicken; maybe tacos, or a pot pie. But the opportunity to be creative with chocolate and baking...well, that's just a treat that keeps on giving! I offer a twist, a giving twist: Purchase this creation, the Leftover Halloween Candy Scone at this Saturday’s Farmers Market, and all the proceeds will be given a local food bank. This Kit Kat/Twix/Milky Way-studded treat is so much better than the candy itself. Intentionally, the scone is not overly sweet and is super joyful to eat.
All proceeds from the sale of these Leftover Halloween Candy Scones will be donated to the Narberth Community Food Bank.
A bunch of Halloweens ago, when the last of the Trick or Treaters had knocked on the door, we found ourselves with more candy leftover than empty-nesters ought to have. We decided to put the bowl of sweets out in our vestibule with a sign, offering it up to delivery drivers, our USPS carrier, and anyone else who might stop by. It was a hit! The peanut butter cups were a favorite – we started taking requests. Actually, Trophy Spouse did. And he has overseen candy purchasing ever since!
Now we intentionally buy waaaayyyyy more than we need and continue to buy new bags and put them out until it gets too warm – like May!
So now you know the candy I used was not exactly leftover from last Friday night’s Halloween. But if I DID legitimately have some excess, I would make these “for-the-kid-in-all-us” scones!
For those looking for a different autumnal flavor, I introduce to you, the Apple and Cheddar Scones made with Crimson Crisp, Granny Smith, and Golden Delicious apples from Frecon Farms and Cabot Extra Sharp Cheddar cheese.

P.S. What I am NOT bringing to market, but did attempt, were the scones filled with non-chocolate candy like Nerds, Sour Patch Kids, and Skittles – those were undeniably vile. I can show you a pic!
