Your Legacy in Action: This Month’s Opportunities

As a Legacy Leader, your experience and insight can shape the future of our community. Here are ways to get involved this month:

Legacy Leader Think Tank with Shoes and Coats 4 Kids

On September 23, Legacy Leaders Alice Armstrong, Lee Schwebel, Lenora Inez Brown, Jay Foran, Lynn Foran, and Phyllis Harris shared their expertise with Monica Lloyd, Executive Director of Shoes and Clothes for Kids (SC4K), and her team. Together, they explored fresh ideas and strategies to help the organization measure its long-term impact.

The Think Tank provided an opportunity to review SC4K’s goals and plans while addressing the challenges of tracking progress over time. The conversation sparked fresh ideas and innovative approaches to tracking progress.  The conversation sparked fresh ideas and innovative approaches to tracking progress.

Legacy Leaders’ Celebrating Community Outdoors

Share your trail photos to highlight the beauty of Ohio’s age-friendly trails. As the vibrant colors of fall arrive, the Age-Friendly Recreation Trail Guide is the perfect resource to help you choose an outdoor trail to explore. This Legacy Leaders project—created in partnership with The Dayton Foundation’s Del Mar Encore Fellows highlights the health benefits of walking, jogging, and biking while providing detailed information on trails across Northeast to Southeast Ohio, including maps, accessibility details, amenities, and directions.

We encourage you to use this guide not only as a personal tool but also as a way to engage others in discovering Ohio’s beautiful, age-friendly trails. While you’re out exploring, snap a few photos of the trails, fall colors, or your walking group and share them with us. We’d love to feature your pictures in upcoming newsletters and on our social media to inspire others to get outside and get active.

Your encore journey can inspire others. Submit your story, lesson learned, or a memorable community moment to be featured in next month’s newsletter. Email me at cowens@cleveleads.org or call: 216-592-2289.
