A newsletter for Legacy Leaders regarding projects and civic engagement.

From the Desk of Claudia

Summer is here! As I write this, June is experiencing record high temperatures and the outdoor Cleveland festivals are in full gear. It is wonderful to see people out enjoying the outdoor summer air.

 Congratulations Legacy Leader Senior Fellows

ALI Class of 2024

This year’s select group of civically engaged and influential members of the ALI Class of 2024 Senior Fellows showed up with a keen interest in mentoring and supporting the development and work of future and current leaders. Congratulations to Susan Althans, Orion Bell IV, Joe Brady, Dr. Rachel Carnell, Mary Ann Corrigan-Davis, Mary Anne Crampton, James (Jay) Foran, and LaJean Ray! Thank you for all you did to make the ALI Class of 2024 a memorable experience.

We are recruiting for the ALI 2025 Legacy Leader Senior Fellow cohort. Mentorship is a key component of this program, giving rise to a generation of leaders from diverse backgrounds and areas to assume leadership roles in their workplace, neighborhoods, or individual lives.

If you or your colleagues are interested in linking generations for a better tomorrow around five critical policy areas (education, health, housing, safe communities, and economic mobility) you are invited by CLC to participate.

See yourself here in 2025!

LEGACY LEADER “FOR YOUR ENCORE” EPISODE 10: Be Mindful of the Gift That You Are

Charles R. See discussed how he has stayed motivated to remain involved in the community at an elevated level since his retirement. He touched on his work within the legal system and his continuing work in the social justice realm. Charles talked about what he likes best about his “encore” and shared advice for helping those approaching their “encore” to find their purpose and their passion.

Legacy Leaders’ podcast series “Your Encore” is growing and continues to provide an opportunity for Legacy Leaders to share their stories about moving from work to retirement to a second or third act. It attracts listeners who are looking for a community, who want an inspiring insight at life after retirement – one that will leave them feeling empowered and ready to take on anything. If you are interested in recording a podcast, have someone you would like or want us to interview, let me know.

Some suggested topics:

  • Second Act Stories: Lessons learned after retirement and advice to give someone to consider pursuing a Second Act.
  • Moving from corporate to nonprofit work.
  • What do you do when you retire?
  • What does successful retirement look like?
  • How to expand connections beyond former employment networks.
  • How to balance retirement and expanding your civic engagement.
  • Living without an IT department and an executive assistant.

If these activities sound of interest to you and you would like to join in, please contact me. I wish you and your family good health as we progress forward to an enjoyable summer!
