From the Flight Deck
Greetings!
These first two weeks have gone by very quickly! With every new school year comes changes and new experiences. Our students are adapting to their new schedule and classes. These changes and new experiences will soon become routine and provide a sense of familiarity for everyone. The Jets in Action community brief is a new experience for the Legacy community. The feedback so far has been extremely positive, and we are very appreciative of the kind words sent our way, thank you!

Announcements & Reminders
iReady Testing Information:
On Monday, August 23rd, we begin our iReady beginning of the year diagnostic assessment to assist us in reviewing student learning in both Reading and Math.

Please take a moment to talk to your student about the importance of taking this, and all assessments seriously. Baseline data from both the Reading and the Math diagnostic will drive instruction and help teachers bridge gaps in knowledge and skills.

We will test campus wide starting with Reading in the morning followed by math in the afternoon. Thank you for your support!

Monday's Motivational Moment!
NO SHORTCUTS
William Danforth, who became the owner of the huge Ralston Purina Company, learned a lesson when he was a young man. He said, "When I was sixteen, I came to St. Louis to attend high school. It was a mile from where I lived to the school. A teacher who lived nearby, and I would start for school at the same time every morning. But he always beat me there. Even back then I didn't want to be beaten, and so I tried all the shortcuts. Day after day, however, he arrived ahead of me. Then I discovered how he did it. When he came to each street crossing, he would run to the other curb. The thing that put him ahead of me was just 'that little extra.'"

The lesson for our Jets? There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.
