The performing arts bring joy and help to bring us together. This week started the stellar showcases from our performing arts programs. The theatre student’s did a great job and we hope to see you this week for our Dance Showcase and Band and Orchestra Performances. Our students have worked so hard to prepare for these performances and are excited to perform for an audience.
This week we will also be on modified bell schedules starting on Tuesday for middle of the year testing. There will be three different tests occurring this week. The first is the middle of the year iReady diagnostic in Math and Reading. This will help us see how much growth the students have had so far this school year in those skills. They will also have Progress Monitoring Activities (PMAs). These assessments are from the district and cover the material learned during the quarter. These assessments will help see what standards students may need more support in before the state testing in May. Lastly, students also have the district Common Final Exams (CFEs) in their semester courses such as PE and Project Lead the Way. The CFEs are 20% of the students' final grade in their semester courses.
I encourage all of our students to study and prepare for these tests. We will be providing incentives for students who show growth in their iReady diagnostic or score in the green, blue or black on their PMAs in 8th grade science, Civics, Algebra and Geometry. On test days we suggest students get a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast and bring their charged computer and charger to campus.

Tony Dungy On Helping Others
You should never be defined by what you do, by the things you have; you've got to define yourself by who you impact and how you help other people.
~ Tony Dungy, NFL football coach
Eleanor Roosevelt On Compassion
To handle yourself, use your head. To handle others, use your heart.
~ Eleanor Roosevelt, first lady
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. On Faith
You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.
~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., civil rights leader
Kevin Hart On Taking Action
The best tip I could tell you is to be active. So many people talk about what they want to do and they just love words. Put actions behind your words. Don’t be a talker, be a doer.
~ Kevin Hart, actor
Dr. Seuss On Kindness
To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.
~ Dr. Seuss, author
