Jets in Action!
Accelerate, Innovate, Collaborate.

Welcome to the start of the second quarter of the 2021-22 school year! The quote often attributed to Albert Einstein, which has personified our experience both pre- and post pandemic -- the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results -- has given us collective pause on how we operate in many areas of our lives. The business as usual model might be the answer in one area, while completely revamping and introducing new mediums, systems, and practices might be the call to order in others. Growing up, we were taught to never talk to strangers or eat food that didn’t come from our parents. Today, it is a common practice to summon complete strangers and get in their cars, or accept food from these same strangers utilizing a variety of apps. The transition to these new social structures is fascinating and is tied to meeting needs, and solving everyday problems through innovation. Necessity drives innovation.
The Legacy Middle School creed is Accelerate, Innovate, Collaborate. It is within this context that I introduce our newest partnership to support our instructional practices and disrupt the traditional practices of doing things over and over again and expecting different results with the software as a service, TeachFX. In part, Teach FX measures teacher talk time vs. student talk time to provide teachers with personalized and anonymized data to improve instructional practices, equity of voice, and academic discourse. The benefits here are the insights provided to teachers to measure what matters most just like an instructional coach would. TeachFX solves my problem of being in all classes at all times to measure student discourse, levels of questioning, and student engagement. We are the first school in the state of Florida to partner with TeachFX. I look forward to sharing trend data with you soon to highlight the impact that TeachFX will have on improving student voice and outcomes in the classroom.
Have a wonderful week!
