Welcome back, and Happy New Year!

I hope this letter finds you rested, rejuvenated, and ready for the exciting opportunities that the upcoming semester holds. Our first semester saw us build a positive environment that fostered learning, growth, and collaboration. From academic achievements to extracurricular triumphs, our collective efforts have made a positive impact on the lives of our students. I want to extend a special thank you to Coach Tatro and Coach Martinez for planning out and providing our Jets with an amazing field day experience on our last Friday in December.

Each new year offers all of us the possibility to modify, adapt, and adjust our thinking, habits, and actions. I encourage each one of you to reflect on the accomplishments of the past semester. Celebrate the victories, both big and small, and let them fuel your enthusiasm for the challenges that lie ahead.

I’m a firm believer that we all need new experiences and challenges to continuously improve ourselves. This is the time of the year that most Americans focus on ‘resolutions’ and goal setting that addresses perceived deficits and imbalances. I started this new year with 75 Hard, a physical and mental fitness program that is already stretching me beyond my limits. I’ve taken up 75 Hard not for its physical fitness component, which requires two, 45-minute workouts per day, but for the systematic and rigid approach to completing tasks that I know will assist me in better executing my duties as a principal.

Once our testing window closes on Friday, January 19th, we will send out comparative assessment results and assist your child with creating actionable goals to support and carry them throughout the semester.

Thank you for being an integral part of our Legacy community. Together, let's make 2024 a year filled with growth, achievement, and countless moments of pride!

Legacy Debate Team
We are excited to announce that Legacy is starting its journey towards establishing a debate team. The proud American tradition of respect – in personal and political interactions – for free and unencumbered speech continues to be a gift left to us by our Founders and remains a uniquely American civic tradition. Any student that is interested in learning the art of debate, frame arguments, and compete in debate tournaments, contact Mr. Eschenbach (john.eschenbach@ocps.net) for more details.

"If there be a time to expose through discussion, the falsehoods and fallacies, to avert the evil by the processes of education, the remedy to be applied is more speech, not enforced silence."
~ Louis Brandeis, Supreme Court Associate Justice

Taking a moment to celebrate and visit with our dedicated bus driver crew that ensures that our students are picked up and dropped off safely each and every day.
During our various holiday spirit days, our staff enjoyed some novel dress up days. Staff dressed up as candy canes. Mr. Boeh took the spirit day to heart and was painted as an actual candy cane!

Seeking Partners in Education
We are very happy to publicly support local businesses that in turn support our students and teachers. Business wins when education wins, so for existing and future Partners in Education, we are delighted to share your information with the community throughout the school year.

Ways in which local businesses can get involved:

  • Guest speakers
  • Guest judges
  • School Advisory Council (SAC)
  • Workplace tours
  • In-kind donations
  • Student recognition (Honor Roll, Student improvement)
  • Teacher recognition
  • Athletics
  • Performing Arts

If you are general manager, own a business, or even know someone involved in business administration, please consider this opportunity and take a look at the short video below about the benefits of becoming a Partner in Education with Legacy Middle School.

Thank you again to all of our existing Partners in Education for your involvement and generous support this school year.

No person should allow anyone else to tell them they can't do something or they're not capable of it. You've got to put your mind to it, burst into it and give it a 100% try. We're all dreamers, and dreams do come true.
