The first lost charger is $10.00, second $15.00 and the fine continues to increase with each occurrence.
Pizza Man
*** Students who score at proficiency level on these assessments will be treated to a pizza party! ***
Lastly, Legacy has served as a platform for professional development and growth for a number of Jets who have refined their skillsets to serve in other roles and capacities. Our Media Specialist, Ms. Gonzalez, has accepted a position with a nonprofit outside of OCPS. We wish Ms. Gonzalez all the best in her new career path. We ask for your patience as we transition a few staff roles for our social media promotion and a few other roles she served. We appreciate your support.

As always, please check your Jet fines and pay them as soon as possible. Links may always be found within each of this issues. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

'Business Wins when Education Wins'
A message from Principal Jimenez to our business community:
We are very happy to publicly support local businesses that in turn support our students and teachers. Business wins when education wins, so for existing and future Partners in Education, we are delighted to share your information with the community throughout the school year.

Every week, we make thousands of 'impressions' when it comes to our school website, the weekly community brief, social media platforms, outdoor signage, and other venues. I share this because in 2024 we hope to both retain and attract new members of our business community.

Ways in which local businesses can get involved:

  • Guest speakers
  • Guest judges
  • School Advisory Council (SAC)
  • Workplace tours
  • In-kind donations
  • Student recognition (Honor Roll, Student improvement)
  • Teacher recognition
  • Athletics
  • Performing Arts

If you are general manager, own a business, or even know someone involved in business administration, please consider this opportunity and take a look at the short video below about the benefits of becoming a Partner in Education with Legacy Middle School.

Thank you again to all of our existing Partners in Education for your involvement and generous support this school year.

Legacy Economics Corner
An occasional look at economic indicators that might impact our Legacy families.
What Cardboard Prices Tell Us About the State of the Economy

Cardboard producers are boosting prices for the first time since early 2022 as business around the country picks up.
There are about 1,500 corrugated box plants nationwide. Corrugated material -- "cardboard" in lay terms -- is made of three pieces of thick paper: a wavy center sandwiched by two flat layers called "linerboard." This material can be found everywhere: here around campus at Legacy Middle, in your Amazon.com shipments, food in the grocery story, nearly anyplace you can think of.

Most products, or some element of them, have been shipped in a corrugated box. So, tracking corrugated is one way to track the whole economy. If the companies that are in the "box business" now feel it is safe to start their raising prices, historically this indicates the economy is improving as sales of US goods must be rising.
The chart shows year-over-year gains/losses in cardboard box shipments. In 2022, they were down, but when the final 2023 figures come in, they will be positive.
