From the Flight Deck

Dear Mark,

We will have another adjusted bell schedule on Friday, October 4th, for the PM1 Algebra, Geometry, Science, and Civics Assessments. Please see the Friday schedule in this edition of JIA.

We are planning on providing our students with an assembly on Friday, October 11th, about the realities of life outside of school vis-à-vis social media, exploitation and human trafficking. Paving the Way, an OCPS recognized organization will host these important discussions with our students. We would like to invite parents to an information session about Paving the Way on Tuesday, November 12th. If you are interested in attending this session, please fill out this interest form. Paper permissions slips went home with students today, and the same permission slip was also made available on Talking Points. Your child must have a permission slip in order to participate in this on-campus assembly.

Also, on October 11th, we will have our first school pep rally where we will unveil the Four Hangars (think Harry Potter). That same night, we are planning on hosting an end of quarter dance for our students.  Parents, we would love to have you on campus to chaperone! Friday night, dance, 3 day weekend, it’s going to be great! See below for more details.

Legacy Middle School is being recognized at Tuesday, October 8th’s school board meeting. As a result, our next SAC meeting of the year will take place on Tuesday, November 12th at 5:30pm in the media center ahead of our Paving the Way Foundation Parent Night.

As we are finishing up the first quarter of school, here are some reminders to help your middle school child succeed:

Let them make mistakes – experiencing failure and learning from their mistakes, helps build resistance

Help your child learn from their mistakes by talking through what happened and asking them what they can learn from the experience

Set firm limits and boundaries – the predictability and comfort of limits helps reduce anxiety and stress

Warm regards,

Jason Jiménez

School Advisory Council Meeting

Tuesday, November 12

Student Advisory Committee (SAC) and Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) in its mission of helping students collaborate, innovate, and accelerate our students to success.

Our next SAC meeting of the year will take place on Tuesday, November 12th at 5:30pm in the media center. When parents are actively involved, it fosters a sense of community and collaboration among families, teachers, and administrators. This can create a more supportive and engaging environment for students.

Being part of the SAC/PTSA helps parents stay informed about school events, policies, and needs. It also provides a platform for parents to voice their concerns and ideas directly to the school administration.
