Jets in Action!

Legacy Community Brief

Legacy Assistant Principal Dr. Torres reading with Ms. Fray's class outdoors one day this past week. Legacy Middle School is participating with other schools in the district-wide in the 'Let's Read, OCPS' reading campaign which encourages our students to develop an interest in reading for pleasure. Students and staff are asked to record their time spent reading all along using the 'Beanstack' app which everyone has easy access to. Currently, our 6th graders are leading in terms of total minutes read.

From the Flight Deck

Last week, I had the honor of meeting our future Jets during our 6th Grade Articulation Night. Thank you to all our Jets for taking the time to showcase all that Legacy has to offer to our rising 6th grade families! With the number of programs for families to choose from in the OCPSverse, events like these go a long way in making a difference for families when it comes to selecting their child’s next educational setting.

Track season is upon us. Tryouts will take place this week. If your child is interested in track, please ensure that a sports physical is on file in Aktivate

If your child is an 8th grader and would like to attend Gradventure to celebrate graduating from Middle School, the final day to purchase tickets is Friday, March 14th. Please look for the Gradventure section for more details and the School Pay Link.

Don't forget to keep those pages turning and the timer going! Let's keep the reading momentum going with Let's Read, OCPS! Encourage your child to log their daily reading minutes on Beanstack. Every minute counts towards our 20-million-minute goal! Don’t forget that our school goal is 72,000 minutes and we have already logged 33,000 minutes together! Remember, reading is fun, and it is a journey, not a race. Let's read and grow together! More information about the challenge can be found in this edition of JIA.

Thank you for reading.

Warm regards,

Jason Jiménez
