Award-winning author Polly Holyoke speaking to our 7th graders prior to Thanksgiving break.

We are in the countdown to Winter Break with only 12 instructional days left until Winter Break begins and the end of the first semester of school. One day this week and the majority of next week, we will be on modified bell schedules for testing. The different tests that will be administered are Common Final Exams (CFEs) for our semester courses like PE and Progress Monitoring Activities (PMAs) in areas such as science and STAR testing in Algebra and Geometry.
It is important that students bring their charged laptop and charger each day to school in preparation for testing.
Please encourage your students to prepare for these tests and also turn in any missing assignments. With the end of the quarter and semester fast approaching, teachers will be submitting grades and there is still time for students to raise their grades.
This week we will also continue our countdown to Winter Break theme days. Be on the lookout for fliers in Canvas and social media. Finally, we have some exciting upcoming events including Breakfast with Santa on the 7th,our talented dance students will present their Dance Holiday Showcase on the 10th, and our performing arts students will display their talents in the Prism Concert on the 12th. Please come out and support our Jets!
We are looking forward to a successful month on the flight deck!
Thank you for reading.

Before the Thanksgiving break, students were treated to a Fall pep rally to kick off the holiday season. Our students were grouped into Hangars to similar to the four houses of Harry Potter to promote positive behavior and school spirit. The Raptors, Night Hawks, Fighting Falcons, and Ghost Riders. In the coming weeks, we’ll showcase our students in their Hangar shirts involved in Hangar events.
At our Fall pep rally, our teachers and students enjoyed a spirited volleyball match and raised money for the volleyball teams with a Pie-A-Teacher fundraiser. Thank you to all of the staff and students that made this an unforgettable experience!

Orange County Animal Services Book Buddies
We are thrilled to introduce you to Orange County Animal Services Book Buddies! This fantastic program offers your child the unique opportunity to read to animals, creating a fun and engaging environment that can significantly boost their reading skills and confidence. Here are three compelling reasons to enroll your child:
1. Boost Reading Skills: Reading aloud to animals allows children to practice their reading in a relaxed setting. The non-judgmental presence of animals helps them improve their fluency and comprehension without the pressure of traditional classroom settings.
2. Build Confidence: Interacting with animals while reading can greatly enhance a child’s self-esteem. As they share stories with their furry friends, they gain confidence in their abilities, making reading a more enjoyable experience.
3. Develop Social Skills: This program encourages children to engage with both the animals and their peers, fostering essential social skills. They learn to communicate, collaborate, and share their love for reading, all while making new friends.
Participating in OCAS Book Buddies will create lasting family memories as you encourage your child to fall in love with reading. Imagine the joy of seeing your little one share stories with their animal buddies, fostering a love for books that will last a lifetime!
Let’s inspire our young Jets to let their imaginations soar through reading! This program is a wonderful way to ignite their creativity and open up new worlds of adventure.
Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity for your child to grow both academically and socially! For more information and to register, visit the OCAS Book Buddies page.
