Legacy 'Hanger Games' Field Day as part of the last instructional day for the second nine-week quarter, the first semester, and for the 2024 calendar year (highlights in this edition). We are now officially on Winter Break!
Monday, December 23, 2024
The countdown to Winter Break is complete, and what a fantastic journey it has been!
Over the past few weeks, we've seen an incredible display of school spirit during our Winter Spirit Weeks. Our performing arts departments dazzled us with their performances, and a huge thank you goes out to all the families, students, staff, and community members who supported our talented Jets!
On Friday, we celebrated our academic superstars who achieved scores of 3, 4, or 5 on the ELA or Math PMAs, or those who improved their scores by 25 points. These students were treated to a fun-filled Hangar Games Field Day,; special thanks to Coach Martinez and Coach Watson who organized exciting games for everyone!
As we head into Winter Break, let's all use this time to relax, recharge, and enjoy precious moments with family. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the flight deck on January 7th, ready to embrace the new semester with renewed vigor and focus on our mission ahead.. All gas, no brakes! Remember, basketball tryouts and 8th-grade high school registration will kick off as soon as we return.
Wishing everyone a safe and joyous holiday break! Let's come back ready to make 2025 our best year yet. See you next year, Jets!

Take some time over the break to get your physical completed and uploaded. Also, practice those jump shots to prepare for the tryouts! Please see Mr. De Zayas in room 724 about the Girls’ Basketball Team and Mr. Fountain in room 821 about the Boys’ Basketball Team. We need you! Let's win the championship!

Cambridge Art Field Trip to the Morse Museum
Our Jets had the enriching experience of visiting the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art. Established in 1942 by Jeannette Genius McKean, the Morse Museum is renowned for its comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany, showcasing his stained glass, lamps, jewelry, and more. The museum's origins tie back to Tiffany's own era, providing a direct link to the artist's creative world.
During their visit, students explored a treasure trove of American art, including the restored Byzantine-Romanesque chapel interior from the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition and galleries mimicking Tiffany's Laurelton Hall. This educational trip not only highlighted Tiffany's contributions but also inspired students with the vibrant legacy of American art.

Recording reading time with the Beanstack app while on break.
We are currently at 31% student participation in Beanstack, which is a huge improvement from where we started at the beginning of the year! However, over the Winter Break, we would love to see this number increase. Take some time to read each day for 10 minutes and enter those minutes into Beanstack for the chance to earn a prize.
