Amateur Division

It was a battle coming down to the last holes between Savannah Hylton and Angela Aung with Hylton paring the last two holes and Aung bogeying to send the South Carolina Women's Open Amateur Championship into a four hole playoff. The first three holes of the sudden death playoff were text book for the amateurs with both hitting fairways and greens to par every time.
The final hole playoff on 17 was a little more exciting. Both hitting a 3 wood off the tee, Hylton turned hers over a little to much giving her a side hill lie next to the No Play Zone on the left. Aung pushed hers a little right staying in bounds by a few yards and getting blocked out of the green requiring a punch out to the center of the fairway. Hylton hit here approach shot a little heavy leaving it short of the green. Aung proceed to hit her approach shot about 25' below the pin while Hylton's chip came of the club face a little hot leaving her a 20' above the pin. Aung hit first, draining the putt to save par and Hylton left hers a tad short resulting in Aung securing the win. Aung currently resides in Bloomington, IN but is the first female golfer out of Burma to compete on the international stage. Congrats Angela!
