Law Library Changes During Renovations

The Downtown Bend Library, where the Deschutes County Law Library is housed, is preparing for its scheduled yearlong renovation project beginning in April.

What does this mean for the law library collection?

  • The Law Library laptop, which holds our Lexis subscription, is now available for use at Redmond Library.
  • Physical items that check-out frequently are also now at Redmond Library and can be accessed through our holds system. Items can be sent to any library in Deschutes County. Holds can be picked up at Downtown Bend Library through April 10 and will be available at the new Central Library’s drive-through window beginning sometime in mid April.
  • The rest of the physical collection is now at Central Library on 27th St. Public access to that building is scheduled to open in May, though an exact date has not yet been set. If anyone needs an item in that collection, reach out to the law library directly.

The Law Library collection will remain at Central Library until Downtown Bend Library reopens. The collection will then return to Downtown Bend Library.

What does this mean for Law Library programming?

  • Lawyer in the Library takes place online through Zoom and will continue as normal.
  • Changing Patterns: Re-Entry Weeklies peer-support group for people returning home from prison is taking place at the Deschutes Historical Museum until Central Library opens.
  • Notary Public in the Library is moving to Council on Aging of Central Oregon once Downtown Bend Library closes to the public in April and until Central Library opens.
