Accessing Your Oregon Case Records

If you need to look up documents from your Oregon court case, you may be able to do so at a Deschutes Public Library location. DPL offers access to the Oregon Judicial Case Information Network (OJCIN) at our La Pine, Sunriver, Sisters, and Redmond libraries. This database houses the dockets and documents of most publicly available cases filed in Oregon courts since 2015. This saves residents of those communities from driving into Bend where OJCIN is accessible at the Deschutes County Circuit Court.

Filing Small Claims

Oregon has a streamlined process for small claims cases under $10,000, and there are a few ways you can file in Deschutes County. You can file either through the Justice Court in Redmond or through the Deschutes County Circuit Court in Bend. The fee for filing at Justice Court is $37 while the fee at the Circuit Court is determined based on the value of the claim. A decision in the Circuit Court is final, whereas you can appeal a decision in the Justice Court (the case essentially moves to the Circuit Court). While the process is simplified, it can still raise questions and we’ve created a topic list on our website to guide you.

Support with Child Support

Many of the family-law questions we get for our Lawyer in the Library program are about child support: from collecting to modifications.

You may need to talk to a lawyer about your options, but the Oregon Department of Justice also houses a child support office in Bend that serves all of Central Oregon. Staff can help with questions and their website offers various resources including calculators, FAQs, and resources.
