The Glen Cove Housing Choice Voucher Program is now open!

Tenant-based vouchers increase affordable housing choices for very low-income families (i.e. families with income below 50% of area median income). Families with a tenant-based voucher choose and lease safe, decent, and affordable privately owned rental housing that meets HUD’s Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and has a reasonable rent as compared to other units in the area.

The Glen Cove Section 8 Program has 340 vouchers for rental housing. The Program will be accepting applications online only from August 16, 2021 to August 18, 2021.

To qualify, the applicant must have a U.S. Citizenship or meet eligible immigration status with supporting documentation, must be of 18 years or older, family income must not exceed the following limits:

Family size 1 $45,500

Family size 2 $52,000

Family size 3 $58,500

Family size 4 $64,950

Family size 5 $70,150

Family size 6 $75,350

Family size 7 $80,550

Family size 8 $85,750

Preparing for the End of the Moratorium

Since the beginning of the pandemic, New Yorkers facing financial hardship have largely been shielded from eviction. The New York State Covid-19 Emergency Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention Act moratorium is scheduled to end on August 31, 2021. This presentation will prepare advocates to work with clients facing eviction, including an explanation of new legal protections created during the pandemic and available sources of assistance.
