ABOUT US:
We are a company in its 29th year, with the feel of a startup. Only in the last 7 years have we decided to expand. In that time, we have grown considerably and continue to do so. By living out our values, our high-functioning teams accept nothing less than constant improvement and growth. Our teams believe that the way we work together is just as important as the work itself, which is why we infuse our days with the same joy and wonder that our campers experience. From our executive team to our seasonal coaches, we believe that WE are Legarza, and take that responsibility seriously. United by a shared dedication to our cause to provide youth with the knowledge and motivation they need to achieve their personal best in sport and life.
Our mission is to “develop youth through sport,” and with that in mind our philosophy is bigger than anything that takes place between the lines. We have prided ourselves on setting the bar for youth sports and education in the Bay Area. One of the organizations that Legarza helped develop is the Positive Coaching Alliance who uses our methods across the country. The result of this approach is that children have reduced anxiety and increased self-confidence, which leads to more fun and better performance, in sport and life.
Our core business is summer programs, with over 250,000 children attending our basketball, volleyball and all-sports camps. But that is not all we provide for the community. What else, you ask? Seasonal leagues, sport specific skills training, after school classes, physical education, athletic director services, and lunchtime wellness programs just to name a few. Possibilities are endless as we plan to continue to branch out into anything that fits into our mission of developing people.
While business savvy and eager to grow we are committed to socially responsible practices. We have have generated over $5 Million for local schools and give away over $200,000 in scholarships each year through our charitable foundation. We promise to provide a quality service that everyone in the community can afford and benefit from. In our 29 year history we have never turned anyone away for financial reasons.
START DATE:
We are looking to fill our position ASAP, however we can be flexible for the right person.
FINE PRINT:
While we have locations across the Bay Area - North Bay, San Francisco, Peninsula, and South Bay - roughly half your time will be spent working out of our San Carlos headquarters with the other half spent running programs in your designated area. We would like someone who would embrace the opportunity to take on new roles and responsibilities within our company as we continue to grow, whether that be a new region or new program.
We value quality of life and have a work environment that reflects this, you’ll be greeted at our HQ with a friendly tail wag and could be challenged to a game of pool or ping pong on a break. This setting and our overall philosophy fosters life-long friendships among our employees. That said, we take our business seriously and work hard to ensure we get the job done the right way. To enable you to realize your peak potential your work will occasionally include evening and weekend time.
NECESSARY SKILLS:
- Positive, can-do attitude with a solid work ethic
- Strong sense of respect for self and others
- Attention to detail
- Desire to improve and grow
- Background in sports/fitness
- Proficient with email software, Microsoft Word/Excel, Google Drive
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Creative and fun and a sense of humor
- Car & possession of a valid driver’s license
*BONUS SKILLS:
- Collegiate/Professional sports background in any sport
- Basketball and/or Volleyball playing or coaching experience
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- 2-10 years of prior full-time work experience
- Sales/Business Development experience
- Experience with camps, children, sports, or education
- Teaching Credential, PE teaching experience
- Summer Camp or Coaching Background
