Detachment Commander
Glen Johnson IV
Hailing from Blue Grass, Iowa, Squadron 711, Commander Johnson is qualified for the Sons of the American Legion by the service of his great grandfather on his father’s side Charles William Henry Lantz who served in WWI and his grandfather on his mother’s side Willie James Lever who served in WWII. Commander Johnson is married to Auxiliary member Sally Johnson. Their daughter Abigail was the 2023 ALA National Junior of the Year and is currently a student at the University of Iowa.
Commander Johnson is employed at MidAmerican Energy as a supervisor in the operations department. In his spare time, he enjoys playing video games, spending time at his local American Legion, and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes win!
One of his greatest inspirations when serving veterans is also a part of his daily life. His father-in-law, Mike Lake, is 100% disabled, combat wounded, Vietnam veteran who has a daily battle with post-traumatic stress disorder. Seeing his life, daily struggles and how much he has overcome despite them inspire him every day not only to become a better man, but a better son, husband, father, and SAL member. With that thought in mind he hopes to lead the SAL, in not only Mr. Lake’s honor, but the honor of every veteran who has served.
