Can I Go to the National Convention?


There seems to by some mystery surrounding The American Legion National Convention. Many of our members don’t know if they can or should attend. They don't know what occurs at a national convention. 

           

It is time to cut through the mystery. On Thursday, June 11, at 6:00 pm, we will conduct an online orientation to answer your questions concerning the National Convention and provide an orientation for potential attendees.

Convention Registration Due June 15!


The National Convention will be August 28 - September 3, 2026, in Louisville, KY.

 

Delegates and Alternates were elected at the Spring District Conference. Those not elected as Delegates or Alternates can attend the National Convention as a guest.

National Convention FAQs


Q. Do I need to attend the entire convention?

A. No. You can customize your stay to meet your schedule.


Q. How do I make my hotel reservation?

A. All hotel reservations should be made through the department using Form 1.


Q. Do I have to be elected as a delegate or alternate delegate to attend?

A. No. Those not elected as delegates or alternate delegates should register as a guest. If all delegate and alternate delegate positions are not filled, Legionnaires may be selected to fill open positions at the department convention.


Q. Is time available during the convention schedule to go sightseeing?

A. Yes. Attendees are encouraged to experience the convention city.


Q. Is the convention just meetings?

A. No. The convention includes an exhibit hall, training opportunities, entertainment, banquets, band and color guard contests, and more.
