As part of the FY2022-2023 State Budget, the salary supplement for Sheriffs, Probate Judges, and Clerks of Court will be increased from $1,500 per official to $15,000 per official. This pass-through funding is pursuant to SC Code section 8-15-65 and Proviso 113.3, and it cannot be used to supplant county funding for these officials. Violation of section 8-15-65 results in a corresponding deduction in your Local Government Fund distribution. Pursuant to section 8-15-65(B), the amount of the salary supplement includes the employer’s share of taxes and benefits and can be deducted from the total amount before distribution to the county official.
