Saginaw County Chamber Announces Position on City of Saginaw Police and Fire Services Special Assessment District Renewal

The Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce is announcing its support for the City of Saginaw’s Police and Fire Services Special Assessment District Renewal appearing on the Tuesday, February 27, 2024, ballot.

The ballot proposal is a request to renew the existing millage of 7.5-mills for the years 2026 through 2030. The existing special assessment funds 20 police officers and 10 firefighters. If renewed, the special assessment would collect an estimated $3,240,520 in the first year. The renewal will not increase taxes but will continue to provide essential police and fire services to businesses and residents in Saginaw.

The Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors thoroughly reviewed the proposal and voted unanimously to support the renewal of the Police and Fire Services Special Assessment believing this is critical to the well-being of our community.

We urge a YES vote on the Police and Fire Services Special Assessment District Renewal on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.
