Stormwater Inspection Mandate Amendment Up Wednesday in the Senate

CS/CS/SB 180 (DiCeglie) is a bill relating to emergency management. Efforts are underway to add a stormwater inspection amendment to SB 180 that would be a significant unfunded mandate for cities with stormwater systems (click here for yesterday’s alert on CS/CS/SB 810). The bill will be considered by the full Senate tomorrow, Wednesday, April 9.

Please contact your Senator as soon as possible and urge them to oppose any amendments by Senator Burgess to CS/CS/SB 180 that mandate excessive and costly inspections of municipal stormwater systems. (Click here for Senate contact information.)

The Florida League of Cities opposes any amendment creating a significant unfunded mandate for cities with stormwater systems.

Cities are already meeting inspection requirements. It’s important to share the context of the unique flooding your city experienced this past hurricane season, especially those cities hit with multiple hurricanes in a short time.
