Short-Term Rentals Bill Up on House Floor Tomorrow Morning, March 5

Support Amendment

CS/SB 280 (DiCeglie) relating to short-term rentals will be heard on the House floor on Tuesday, March 5. The bill:

  • Restricts what local governments can require as part of a local registration program
  • Permits a short-term rental to have 5 code enforcement violations before a suspension can occur
  • Places significant new enforcement responsibilities on the Department of Business and Professional Regulation and new accountability measures on advertising platforms
  • Preempts all municipal ordinances adopted after July 1, 2014
  • Maintains the grandfather for ordinances adopted prior to June 1, 2011.

Representative Randy Fine has filed amendment barcode 108213. This amendment will remove ALL local government preemption items in the bill. Please communicate to your legislators and your contract lobbyists to urge House Legislators to SUPPORT amendment barcode 108213
