LEGISLATIVE ALERT
Dear Fellow Home Educators:
In our earlier email today regarding the Public Hearing on SB 6, the time of the hearing was incorrect. The Public Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, at 1:00 pm.
Please make every effort to attend in person if possible, to testify or to submit testimony.
You can see the bill language, lines 76-97 (Section 5) HERE.
Section 5 of the bill would require that any child withdrawn from a public school would be reported first to the Commissioner of Education and then to DCF. This reporting establishes a permanent database within both the Education Department and with DCF.
SB 6 treats anyone who withdraws from public school as inherently suspect, instead of presumably innocent. Such a law would chill parent's free exercise to choose their preferred type of education. Your involvement does make a difference! Large participation by homeschoolers contacting their legislators and coming out for a public hearing has preserved our homeschool freedoms in the past.
Thank you for standing with us to protect parental rights and homeschooling freedoms in CT. Every voice and every body makes a difference!
In Prayer,
Pam Lucashu, Legislative Liaison
