ANNUAL CONFERENCE -- THANK YOU

We had a wonderful Annual Conference and wish to thank everyone who attended and presented, including our keynote speaker, Nir Bashan. The conference could not have been a success without the collective efforts of many people, including the leadership of OML's Board of Trustees and officers. Watch your inboxes for a feedback survey (as well as copies of the presentation slides) that will help us in planning next year's conference.

CALL TO ACTION RELATED TO DATA TRANSPARENCY ACT AND NDAA

OML put out a call to action this week to contact U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown's office urging him to stand against including the Financial Data Transparency Act in the must-pass federal defense spending bill. The data transparency act would place an unfunded mandate on municipalities, and Sen. Brown has great influence as chair of the Senate Banking Committee. $4.2 BILLION BEING INVESTED IN OHIO ELECTRIC VEHICLE PRODUCTION

Honda, along with LG Energy Solutions, is planning to invest $4.2 billion in electric vehicle production in Ohio. The investment includes $700 million to transition its existing plants in Marysville, Anna, and East Liberty to produce electric vehicles and components, while another $3.5 billion will go toward producing the batteries powering its EVs at a new site in Fayette County.


OHIO TO RECEIVE $2 BILLION FOR ROADWAYS

Ohio will soon receive $2 billion for projects related to roads, bridges, tunnels, safety, and other surface infrastructure through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Most of the money will go the Ohio Department of Transportation, which will have flexibility in how to allocate it. Some of the money will go directly to local governments.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency recently released the notice of funding opportunity for the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP). Learn more about the the program through this National League of Cities blog post.


OHIO BUSINESSES CONCERNED WITH CRIME

Polling conducted for the Ohio Chamber of Commerce found that 62% of the state's businesses community believes rising crime is holding them back from expansion. That was a takeaway of a larger survey of Ohio residents and business owners about crime issues. More Info
