MUNICIPAL OFFICIALS VISIT WHITE HOUSE BEFORE PRESIDENT VISITS OHIO
On Wednesday, an array of mayors and other local government officials from Ohio visited the White House to meet President Biden and discuss how federal investments have benefited the state. Specifically, the event focused on funding from legislation such as the American Rescue Plan Act, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, CHIPS Act, and Inflation Reduction Act. President Biden is further touting the CHIPS Act as he is participating in the groundbreaking ceremony for Intel's new semiconductor facility in New Albany today.

The Ohio House and Ohio Senate canceled their "if-needed" session dates in September, confirming that the chambers will not be back in session until after the November election. The following session dates are scheduled:

STATE TAX COLLECTIONS EXCEED FORECASTS
The Office of Budget and Management said the state brought in 3.4 percent more in tax revenue than expected in August, led by income tax collections that exceeded forecasts by 6.8%. The sales tax generated 2.2% more than expected, while the commercial activity tax missed its forecast by 1.9%. Taxes have generated $233.4 million more in the first two months of FY23 than in the same period of FY22.
FRESH WATER LOANS AWARDED
The Ohio Water Development Authority announced that five communities were awarded $6 million through low-interest loans to improve wastewater and drinking water infrastructure. Municipal recipients of the Fresh Water Loan Program include the City of Germantown, City of Madeira, and Village of Payne. More Info
AFFORDABLE CONNECTIVITY PROGRAM AVAILABLE FOR RESIDENTS
Congress recently created the FCC’s Affordable Connectivity Program, a $14 billion program that replaced the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program. This investment in broadband affordability will help people get the internet connections they need for work, school, health care and much more.
