SB 233 is being heard and voted on in the House Education Committee today. This bill permits Georgia families who live in the lowest performing 25% school districts in the state to use state money (~$6,000/year per child) to pay for alternative education to the local public school. While GHEA applauds attempts to address issues created by underperforming schools, we oppose public funds flowing directly to homeschooling due to the serious risks created to our homeschool freedoms.
GHEA is requesting that you contact your Georgia State House Representative today and ask that homeschoolers be specifically excluded from this bill.
Please ask your State House Rep to act to protect your homeschool freedom and leave us out of this bill!
