Governor Opens Legislative Session with State of the State Address
The 4Cs is still analyzing the hundreds of pages of budget documents released today by Governor Malloy, but the Governor's speech mentioned several items important to all state employees: 
  • Changing the state employee pension system
  • Reducing the state workforce by 1,000 or more employees
  • Changing state employee benefits 
Of concern in particular to the colleges is the Governor's proposal to have the higher education systems responsible for the fringe benefit costs of its employees. Please see the CT Mirror article below for more information. 

Keep in mind that these are simply proposals at this point. Also, please see SEBAC's press release in reaction to the budget.
